LAN/MAN/WAN Design & Implementation
Situation : As LAN/MAN based (i.e.
switches, hubs, router LAN interfaces) and WAN based (i.e. CSU/DSU, Frame Relay,
ATM, router WAN interfaces) technologies rapidly evolve, how does your
organization keep current to maximize productivity and efficiency, and thus
competitiveness and profitability? A critical resource (i.e. network
engineering, vendor, etc.) is suddenly no longer available, how does the
organization quickly fill in the gaps? The organization has grown to the point
where IT networking is now critical, but cant really afford to keep and
maintain full in house resources to handle it? The investment made in the
network a number of years ago is now so dated that it needs to be totally re-architected
to keep up with business requirements, but the skills and resources in house are
not up to the task.
Blue Group Solution: Blue Group Consulting will design and implement a
LAN/MAN/WAN infrastructure that meets the customers requirements taking into
consideration scalability, performance, reliability, fail-over and management
capabilities. Blue Group has extensive knowledge in the design and
implementation of new installations from the ground up, enhancements to an
existing environment, and converting to new emerging technologies. Blue Groups

Deliverables: Throughout the design and implementation process, Blue
Group will perform the following tasks:
· Conduct a network infrastructure
assessment Gather information
regarding the installed equipment to identify and plan for the necessary
design effort.
· Conduct routing and switching
requirements analysis Review and
validate router and switch manufacturers most recent recommendations to
increase confidence that infrastructure components will operate smoothly and
cooperatively, thereby maximizing network availability to the customer.
· Develop scalable routing,
switching, and WAN architecture Design
an optimal architecture based on the clients requirements taking into
consideration legacy applications, protocols and traffic patterns. This will
increase awareness of the network environment that can facilitate future
changes and network problem solving activities.
· Develop strategy for network
deployment Develop an
implementation plan for optimal deployment of all network components
(routers, switches, WAN equipment) to achieve a smooth installation taking
into consideration the customers schedule and hours of operation.
· Existing Network Documentation
Analysis Review the existing
network documentation and make written recommendations for improvement to
enable increased control of the infrastructure, better break/fix and change
procedures, as well as reduce the risk of extended availability outages.
· New Network Documentation
Document all network infrastructure components covered in the design
effort. This service can create network documentation where none exists
today, which will improve processes that will enable the customer to upgrade
or reconfigure infrastructure components with minimal availability outages.
